Who is a Good Candidate for Dentures?

Prior to ordering your dentures, our team will need to make sure your mouth is ready for these prosthetics. How do we know? In addition to having missing teeth, you can’t have cavities or gum disease present. As long as you are generally healthy and have an otherwise healthy mouth with gaps, you should be good to go! If you require preliminary treatment, we can get you in a better position for dentures.

Types of Dentures

All dentures, regardless of how many teeth are being replaced, come with a gum-colored base and teeth that look completely natural. Depending on your needs and goals, we may recommend one of the following types to restore your smile’s function and appearance:

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures fill in any gaps in the upper or lower arch when there are still some healthy teeth remaining. These prosthetics usually come with a metal or acrylic clasp that holds onto adjacent teeth for stability, and they fit in your smile like a puzzle piece, filling in the holes of tooth loss with realistic dentition.

Full Dentures

If you have no natural teeth left, a full denture can replace all of them in a single restoration. Modern dentures are fabricated to fit snugly on your arches and use suction with your gums to stay in place. However, they are still removeable for easy cleaning and convenience.

Implant Dentures

Instead of relying on suction or clasps, implant dentures are secured to titanium posts that are fully integrated with the jawbone. As a result, these dental prosthetics are much stronger, longer lasting, and better at preserving a more youthful facial shape.

On average, dentures need to be replaced every 5 to 10 years, although they may last longer if you take good care of them.
